White, author of the textbook used by both the REMIC and Seneca College courses for agent licensing, and numerous sales resources, the Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada is the Institute dedicated to the mortgage brokerage industry and the life insurance industry. Mr. White founded the Institute to meet the needs of financial services professionals by focusing solely on the mortgage brokerage industry. In 2016 REMIC expanded its educational offerings to include the life insurance agent course, called the HLLQP.

Yes. REMIC is approved by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority in Ontario to offer the Mortgage Agent Course for licensing as well as the Harmonized Life License Qualification Program (HLLQP). REMIC is also approved in all other Provinces for the HLLQP (except Quebec). In addition, REMIC is approved by the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) as an accredited educational institution and REMIC provides students are provided a tax receipt (T2202A).

Joseph J. White! is the founder and President of the Real Estate and Mortgage Institute of Canada (REMIC), and co-founder and President of Conversational Artificial Intelligence Technologies (CaiT).
Mr. White has been a staunch supporter of the mortgage industry since 1988. He began his career as a mortgage agent, and in the mortgage lending sector of the industry he has held positions as National Sales Manager and VP of Sales with two national mortgage lenders.
In the industry’s mortgage brokering sector he is a licensed mortgage broker and has been a partner at a successful mortgage brokerage, manager at two national brokerages, principal broker at a commercial brokerage, founder of a mortgage investment corporation, and is owner and principal broker of his own boutique brokerage.
As an educator, Mr. White has personally instructed over fifteen thousand students since 1996, many of whom are now leaders in the industry. During his 14 years at Seneca College he was a professor, program coordinator, subject matter expert and winner of the Excellence Award for exceptional leadership. In addition to having developed several courses for Seneca College, including the first mortgage broker education program in Ontario’s history, he designed the mortgage agent course currently used by REMIC and Ontario’s colleges. Mr. White has written two textbooks used in the mortgage industry and by over 20 Ontario colleges, with over thirty thousand copies in print, as well as several business focused books and e-books.
Mr. White has made significant contributions to the growth of the mortgage industry. When he began his career in teaching, 120 students per year were taking the mortgage agent course. Because of his passion and dedication to helping those who want to make mortgage brokering their career, REMIC has become the largest mortgage educator in Canada, teaching over 6,000 students per year.
As a thought leader, Mr. White is leading the development of AI, through hiCait.com, for use in assisting mortgage brokers to capture market share and expand mortgage brokerage’s influence in the mortgage market.
Cain Daniel has been involved in the mortgage and education industry since 2010. He is a licensed mortgage agent as well co-founder of a small boutique mortgage brokerage in Ontario. Cain has previously held positions with both a national mortgage brokerage firm and an Ontario Credit Union. His previous roles include training and development for a national financial services company, as well as an instructor while living abroad.
Cain Daniel has maintained his position at REMIC a for the past 10 years and has positioned himself as an integral part of REMIC’s strategic planning, process implementation and business development. His work with sales training modules, marketing content, and social media workshops has helped give REMIC students the competitive edge they need to succeed.
Cain Daniel continues to help mortgage brokerages grow their businesses through the implementation of training programs designed to increase their market share and overall agent performance.
Kevin, one of REMIC’s longest teaching Professors, has a vast wealth of knowledge that he loves to impart to his students. Hailing from Australia, Kevin has been brokering for most of his life. His passion for helping students excel in the course and his ability to provide real-life examples make him highly appreciated by his students.
As the Director of Education, Kevin excels in coordinating schedules and overseeing our dedicated instructors. His strategic vision ensures that our educational programs are effectively delivered and engaging. Kevin’s ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently ensures that both students and instructors have the support they need to succeed. After passing the provincial HLLQP licensing examinations (formerly known as the LLQP) the life insurance company applies to the provincial regulator (FSRAin Ontario) for your license. You must apply for a license within 1 year of passing the provincial licensing exams OR YOU WILL HAVE TO RETAKE THE HLLQP COURSE.

Stephen has been in the life insurance business for more than 25 years. Stephen’s personality is one that does not allow himself to sit on the sidelines. He had coached minor hockey in Montreal for years and upon moving to Toronto he continued coaching at a Rep level north of the GTA. With the time he has spent cold calling, finding ways to build his business and countless hours coaching he is very excited to transfer all of his energy to building REMIC Insurance.
Rohan Singh has been a financial services executive in the Canadian life insurance and mutual fund industries for over 30 years. He has held several senior management positions with responsibility for insurance and investment product development, marketing, multi-channel distribution management, strategic business unit management, and corporate strategic planning. Prior to his retirement from ING Canada, he held the position of President and Director of ING Wealth Management Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of ING Canada.
Rohan joined the Centre for Financial Services of Seneca College in the spring of 2008 and has been actively involved in raising awareness of Seneca’s Financial Services Practitioner program in the financial services industry. In addition, he teaches courses in marketing, life insurance, investment funds, and retirement planning at Seneca’s Faculty of Business and for other corporate clients.
Rohan holds a B.Sc. and Executive MBA from the University of Toronto. He has completed the Officers, Partners and Directors’ course of the Investment Funds institute of Canada, and holds the FLMI (Fellow of the Life Management Institute) and EPC (Elder Planning Counselor) designations.
You must pass the 4 provincial licensing exams (formerly known as the LLQP licensing exams) within 1 year of passing the HLLQP course. Passing the REMIC HLLQP course certifies you to write the provincial licensing course, which may be completed in-person or online. In Ontario Durham College administers the HLLQP licensing examinations.
This qualifies you to write the 4 provincial licensing exams. The course was previously called the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP course) but has been changed to the Harmonized Life License Qualification Program (HLLQP course). You can take the HLLQP course (formerly known as the LLQP course or LLQP program) online or in class.
Passing the course means passing the 4 HLLQP Online Certification Examinations that are PROCTORED online, with webcam and microphone required. These consist of Life Insurance, Ethics and professional practice, Accident and Sickness and Segregated Funds.
Each online examination consists of 30 multiple choice questions (except the Ethics and professional practice examination; it consists of 20 multiple choice questions). Passing the course requires scoring at least 60% per online examination. In addition students have 75 minutes to complete each exam.
To become a licensed as mortgage agent in Ontario your first step is to pass the REMIC Mortgage Agent Course for licensing (RMAC) that is approved by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). REMIC is also approved by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) as an accredited educational institution. REMIC provides students a tax receipt (T2202A) for the REMIC Mortgage Agent Course (RMAC).
